National Visitor Motivation Survey Project

We are conducting Visitor Motivation Surveys for more than a dozen cultural institutions across the country in 2015/16. These surveys will examine website traffic data to provide individual organizations insights into their online audiences and, by comparing against other institutions, gain an understanding of online audiences nationwide. The results will be presented at the Museums and the Web 2016 conference (proposal submitted, approval pending), taking place in Los Angeles next spring.

Doris Salcedo Documentary

In February 2015, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago opened the first retrospective of renowned sculptor Doris Salcedo’s work. I managed the production of a video documentary to be installed in the exhibition that chronicles Salcedo’s site-specific and large-scale public projects, which have been a significant part of her artistic production over the past 15 years.

I was the producer for this project and worked on it in-house as the Digital Media Director for a year, and then as an independent contractor for the final year and and half.

I wrote the script, hired all the production crews and the post-production staff, managed all the video shoots, and conducted interviews with Doris Salcedo; her studio partners Carlos Granada, Roberto Uribe, Ingrid Raymond, and Sergio Clavijo; curator Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev; gallerists Tim Marlow and Carolyn Alexander; and Tate Director Sir Nicholas Serota. I traveled to Montreal, New York, London, and Bogotá, Colombia, to conduct the interviews and manage the film crews there. I also managed post-production in Chicago and Brooklyn.

View the final production here.

Content Strategy for Colorado University

CU South Denver sitemap BLANK

Content Strategy for Colorado University

The University of Colorado Denver is pursuing a redesign of cusouthdenver.org. I’ve been hired to do content strategy and production (writing and editing) for the project, which will be in collaboration with web and design agency BetterWeather and University Communications.

The project represents a unique set of requirements and challenges because the new site combines The Wildlife Experience—a functioning museum—with CU’s higher education offerings as a satellite location for the larger CU system. The content strategy will take into consideration the range of audiences the site will serve.

Way of the Shovel video

Exhibition video for The Way of the Shovel

I produced a video for the exhibition The Way of the Shovel: Art as Archaeology, which traces the interest in history, archaeology, and archival research that defines some of the most highly regarded art of the last decade. Curated by former MCA Chicago Manilow Senior Curator Dieter Roelstraete, the exhibition makes the argument that we are in the midst of an artistic movement which Roelstraete has termed the “Historiographic Turn.”

Content Management System update and WordPress migration for MCA Chicago

After completing the “facelift” of the MCA’s website, we needed to address the site’s content management system. The legacy system was custom built by a previous in-house developer and was at least five or six years old—ancient by most web standards. In addition, the old CMS had been hacked for the launch of the facelift in order to make the updated front-end function on top of the legacy CMS.

Microsites for Artist in Residence Goshka Macuga

London-based artist Goshka Macuga’s residency project for the MCA Chicago, titled a Chicago Comedy, is inspired by Hamburg Conversations on Art: Hamburg Comedy, a 1896 work by German Jewish art historian Aby Warburg. Because the resulting work, likely to be a play, would not exist until the end of the residency term, the residency project team’s challenge was to make the residency visible to the public. The artist preferred not to create an object or an installation to represent the residency, so digital, with its ability to present a depth of information in a physically economical and engaging way, emerged as the best candidate.

The artist’s process is being documented and presented to the public as Preparatory Notes for a Chicago Comedy. Our team became involved as interactive media designers/developers.
